INTENTION CHECKS

INTENTION CHECKS

Planning a change for the better? Check how serious your intentions are!

In our pursuit for changes, we very often make New Year resolutions or promise ourselves that starting from the 1st of January / beginning of the next month / Monday / tomorrow we shall launch the Big Life Change and alter our attitude, behavior, lifestyle, diet preferences. In other words, we will change our habits and start a new better life.

However, have you ever experienced a situation when exactly on the next day or right before your change was scheduled an unexpected event occurs? And this “unexpected event” seriously questions your new resolution and makes the realization of your intention brutally complicated, if not impossible, doesn’t it?
As for me, I also had such situations so many times in my life that I stopped counting. I told myself that from tomorrow onwards I would be more patient with my son, and the next morning he would most definitely wake up sick and cranky, challenging my plans and pushing my limits again. My husband made an outspoken resolution that he would restart his gym visits from next Monday, and sure enough, he injured his knee on the weekend, leaving him unable to pursue his intention and postponing it by another several weeks.

Facing such situations, you may say, that “it is fate” or a sign to stop and drop your intentions, that it must be something not for you or that it is obviously bad timing or too early to start…

In reality, ironically, it is exactly the opposite! In this peculiar way the Universe tests the seriousness of your intentions, puts you through an unsanctioned control of your plans, gives you an exam and checks how ready and confident you are in your strive for a change. I call this “intention checks”.

For example, if you decide to make sure your sleep is long enough, that is, at least the recommended 7-8 hours of rest every night, you may be surprised to be woken up way too early by a phone call from your distant relatives, or your child will be up before the usual time demanding attention, or you will receive an invite to the party of your dream, which starts sometime around midnight… There may be an unlimited range of intention checks that life will throw at you, and indeed I know how easy it is to conclude that you shall get back to your changing experience next week, or that it is probably not meant for you. And I assure you, it is completely and indisputably your own choice and right to alter your intention and enjoy your night life the way you are used to.

Yet, should you remain determined to pursuing a healthier and more conscious and aware lifestyle by ensuring sufficient sleep for yourself, try not to give up on your intention despite the obstacles. Tell yourself: no worries, there will be another party / I will have to leave the party earlier than usual / I shall re-arrange my morning commitments in such a way to give myself an opportunity to sleep in. In the worst case, let us face it – none of us is prone to failures, one-time exceptions and steps back. Should this happen, it is crucial to avoid blaming and punishing yourself, thus initiating a vicious circle of feeling stressed, experiencing negative emotions, attracting more negativity into your life and ultimately resorting back to your comfort zone where no change for the better is ever possible. Instead, encourage yourself to immediately resume your path towards a healthier sleep, praise yourself for your serious and determined approach and reward yourself by a prolonged sleep on the weekend or whenever an opportunity presents itself.

Stay positive and you will be amazed to realize that after 1 or 2 intention checks you will be left alone to carry on in your pursuit. The Universe will rest assured that you are confident about your goal and ready to follow it no matter what comes around. Suddenly instead of the tricky checks you will face positive signs of support and what we usually call “a blessing from the skies” or pure luck. That’s why do keep trying, changing for the better, improving yourself, just stay strong and hold on to your dream. As we all know, the power and strength are given to the one who acts, so let’s make ourselves and the world around us better with our conscious and determined actions!
